Washington, D.C. — MetroNow is excited to announce the addition of the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce and the Tysons Partnership to the MetroNow Coalition. David Harrington, President and CEO of the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce, and Sol Glasner, CEO of the Tysons Partnership, bring their leadership and regional expertise to ensure the Washington metropolitan area has a world-class, well-funded, well-run, and innovative transit network.

The MetroNow Coalition is made up of regional leaders from the business, non-profit, and advocacy communities who believe that transit is designed to bring us together —at work, school, and play. Our coalition came together in 2018 to campaign for dedicated funding for Metro. The result was historic action by our elected officials to put Metro on a safe, smart, and sustainable path forward. In 2019, we expanded our commitment to regional mobility and equity by launching our Better Bus Campaign

As we continue to experience the health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, MetroNow has worked to secure federal funding to help our transit agencies through these unprecedented times. MetroNow is focused on making sure that our regional transit network can continue to expand access to opportunity and create a more equitable and sustainable regional economy as we recover from this crisis.

“Metrorail is one of the foundational elements in the Tysons’ Comprehensive Plan. Now more than ever, it is imperative we invest in the system and in its growth, particularly the completion and service start for the Silver Line Phase 2,” said Sol Glasner, President and CEO of the Tysons Partnership.

“Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce believes high-quality transit is essential to the county’s present and future. We are joining the MetroNow Coalition to make sure that Metrorail, Metrobus, the county’s The Bus service, and all the local transit agencies across the region are well-funded and well-run so we can create a more equitable transportation system that improves access to, from, and within the county. As evidenced by the County’s commitment to scaling the Blue Line corridor, a robust transportation system is an essential component to the County’s economic viability,” said David Harrington, President and CEO of the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce.

MetroNow is honored to add the power and regional representation that the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce and Tysons Partnership bring to the coalition’s work.
